Rug Making Info
Designing, Sketching, Graphing

A theme for a rug can be inspired from a variety of sources—nature, a geometric pattern, a special texture.  When that theme has been chosen, the design is then developed to fit within the size and shape needed.  When the design is finalized, it is carefully and completely sketched.

Colorizing, Dyeing

The rug’s colors must be chosen to complement the décor where they will be placed and to reflect the theme that has been chosen.  We can produce a rainbow of hundreds of colors and provide the exact shades needed. Our careful dying processes will insure that your rugs have vibrant color and are colorfast.

Weaving, Trimming

All of our rugs are carefully hand woven by skilled artisans who are guided by the custom graph that has been developed. Our knot counts are kept high to insure the durability of the rugs. When the weaving is completed, the rugs are carefully trimmed to remove the extraneous strands of yarn.

Washing, Drying

The completed rugs are then washed in clean water using eco-friendly chemicals.  They are washed several times with a variety of methods, so that they achieve their supple texture.  Then the rugs are sun dried. This process is rigorously monitored with frequent rug turning and by carefully maintaining the proper drying temperature.

Stretching, Finishing

When the rugs have been thoroughly dried they are stretched on all sides in an iron frame which fixes their shape.  At this time the rugs are intensively inspected.  Any flaws are repaired, any residual spots are cleaned, and the colors are checked to make sure they have remained true.  A beautiful work of art has been completed.

Packing, Shipping

The completed rugs are carefully rolled together with jute and then with a tough plastic wrap to protect them from the rigors of shipping.  They will arrive at the customer’s floor looking as beautiful as when we pulled them off our iron rack.
